Ecotricity have announced their plans to offer customers green gas alongside their green electricity. The gas will be produced from food waste using anaerobic digestion and injected into the national grid's gas network - although to start with consumers will actually be paying for the plants to be developed as none currently exist in the UK.
Read more on Ecotricity's plans, and sign up for more information if you are interested, at their website. There is also a discussion on the topic on their blog.

A German consumer guide published in September entitled The Sustainable Shopping Basket is available to view online in English. The German Council for Sustainable Development has updated the document from one published in 2003 and, whilst some of the information is related to Germany, it does give a good overview of how to go about shopping sustainably.
View The Sustainable Shopping Basket here.
