National Liftshare Week 4-8 October 2010

If you have been thinking about car sharing or looking for ways to save energy and money, perhaps the up and coming National Liftshare Week will give you the incentive to start moving in the right direction.

"According to the Dept for Transport, 24% of UK passenger carbon emissions come from commuting, and 91% of car commuting is single occupancy. This is totally unsustainable. There are 38 million empty car seats on the UK's roads every morning rush hour alone - liftshare Week aims to help fill some of those seats, reducing pollution and cutting congestion. Because if the national average car occupancy can be raised from 1.6 to just 2 people, the UK's CO2 emissions from cars will experience a 20% reduction (Niches,2007)."
