Have some new windows installed this spring

Investing in a new set of windows for the home can not only enhance its appearance, but also help to reduce the amount of heat being lost, it has been observed.

Ian Hall, head of sales at Granada Secondary Glazing, explained that people not willing or able to change the windows completely can opt for second glazing, which involves a separate window being fitted behind the existing one.

"Depending on what glass you put in and depending on how much of a cavity you can create between the two windows, you can reduce the heat loss through windows by anything up to 85 per cent," he explained.

The expert said that the type of secondary glazing is entirely dependant on what the existing window in the property looks like, with millions of properties having sash windows, which makes it a good idea to try something that mirrors this.

However, a new set of windows could price some people out of the market, however taking out a short term loan online is an option in order to see and feel the benefits of secondary glazing.

Talking about the costs incurred by installing double glazing, you could start with just a few windows, and start reducing your bills immediately, until you have saved enough to install more double glazing. Hopefully though, your bills won't be as high now as we're entering the spring and summer, giving you plenty of time to save up.

One would think that by making do with the windows one has, he/she is being frugal. What they do not know is the benefit of getting a new one. Great job on bringing this to the attention of everyone!
